As we prepare for his arrival, I thought I would share some fun design trends for baby rooms and share a little sneak peek of our own baby room. As any parent can attest, designing and decorating a baby's room can be an exciting and challenging experience. There are several popular trends that parents can use as inspiration when creating a welcoming and comfortable space for their little one.

1.        Gender-neutral colors and themes One trend that has gained popularity in recent years is gender-neutral colors and themes. Instead of the traditional pinks and blues, many parents are opting for a more neutral palette of grays, beiges, and whites. This allows for more flexibility in terms of decor and gives the room a timeless look that can grow with the child. Neutrals also make it easier to use the same nursery for a 2nd baby, down the road.

2.                  Natural materials Another trend that has gained popularity is the use of natural materials. Parents are opting for cribs, dressers, and other furniture made from natural woods like oak, cherry, and walnut. Woven baskets, blankets, and rugs made from natural fibers like wool and cotton are also popular. This trend not only creates a warm and cozy atmosphere but also helps promote sustainability and a connection to nature. For Baby DeVries, we repurposed my grandmother’s dresser into our changing table - a great way to allow her love and legacy to live on. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways, including painting one wall a bold color, using wallpaper, or adding a mural. Popular themes include animals, nature scenes, and abstract designs. Growing up near the Appalachian mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, Zac and I decided to bring the outdoors in for our baby boy with a mountain mural silhouette. With numerous tutorials on Pinterest, we were able to pull this painting project off all by ourselves! 4.                  Personalization Personalization is another trend that has gained popularity in recent years. Parents are using monogrammed bedding, personalized wall art, and custom-made name signs to create a space that is unique to their child. This not only makes the room feel special but also adds a personal touch that can help make the space feel more welcoming.

5.                  Minimalist design Finally, minimalist design has become increasingly popular in Illinois baby rooms. This trend focuses on simplicity and functionality, with a focus on essential items rather than excess decor. This can create a calming and soothing environment for both the baby and parents. In conclusion, decorating a baby's room can be a fun and rewarding experience. By using these popular trends as inspiration, parents can create a space that is not only comfortable and functional but also reflects their personal style and values. We cannot wait to welcome our baby boy into this world and into his cozy, woodland animal-themed room! " />
